Title: Behavior Intervention Specialist

Location: Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and The Bronx

Education: Masters Degree (Required) A national board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) a PLUS!

1. Provide behavior support planning to assigned individuals and staff at IRI.
2. Develop, evaluate, and revise behavioral treatment plans at least in a semi manual basis as well as on as needed basis while working under the general supervision of an experienced PhD psychologist and Director of Clinical Services and Data Analytics
3. Train staff on implementation of all prescribed behavior supports and individualized protocols reviewed and approved by the agency’s Licensed Psychologist. Trainings include but are not limited to:  Positive Behavior Support, Functional Communication, data collection, etc.
4. Consult with other professionals regarding the individual’s behavioral and psychosocial status.
5. Maintain all required documentation in accordance with agency policies and governing regulatory standards.
6. Prepare, monitor and revise – as necessary – behavior treatment plans, psychosocial assessment for individuals and present at their annual reviews.
7. Participate in all interdisciplinary team meetings as needed, including intake screenings.
8. Consult with family members, programs, and treating clinicians to review status and recommendations for each individual.
9. Participate in all agency-wide committees as assigned.
10. Visit individuals at each assigned residence in accordance with a regular schedule.
11. Report all incidents to their immediate supervisor.
12. Uphold and maintain professional ethics and behavior.
13.  Conduct data analysis of all behavior data
14.  Conduct socialization, psychosocial and advocacy groups to address self-regulation challenges, over eating and diet planning, and relationship development
15.  Provide situational counseling and individual counseling to individuals and families in crisis
16.  Interface with attending psychiatrist or prescribers in matters dealing with mental health, behavioral health and psychosocial adjustment
17.  Participate in screening of individuals with IDD and prepare appropriate clinical reports
18.  Chair all ITT and special meeting circle of support meeting dealing with with mental health, behavioral health and psychosocial adjustment
19.  Ensure the quality of behavioral and program documentation for the purpose of billing and claiming
20.  Advocate on behalf of the people IRI supports

Must have the ability to travel primarily in Queens but also in Brooklyn, Bronx, and Long Island. 

Preferred Education:​(1) Master’s degree from an accredited program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions, and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development. OR

​(2) A national board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) and a Master’s degree in behavior analysis; or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology

Minimum Experience:​At least five years of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans.

Other Qualifications: ​Communication – Behavior Intervention Specialist needs to communicate by being able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language.

Writing – Behavior Intervention Specialist must be able to communicate effectively in writing using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
