Job Status: Part-Time — 1, 2, 3, or 4 shifts per week
Reports To: Aquatic Manager
Swim Angelfish® specializes in helping children and individuals with disabilities and special needs become safer, more confident, and more independent in the water. Our adaptive swim programs are designed for swimmers who may not learn effectively through traditional swim instruction. We specialize in working with individuals with autism, anxiety, sensory needs, motor challenges, and those who learn differently. We provide our instructors with specialized training and practical strategies for understanding each swimmer and finding the best way to help them succeed.
About the Position

Swim Angelfish is looking for part-time Adaptive Swim Instructors to join our team.
Our instructors provide individualized swim instruction to children and individuals with disabilities and special needs. You’ll learn specialized techniques for helping swimmers overcome sensory, motor, behavioral, and emotional barriers so they can become safer and more successful in the water. This is a great opportunity for experienced swim instructors, coaches, lifeguards, educators, paraprofessionals, behavior technicians, and others who have experience in both aquatics and working with individuals with disabilities.
What You’ll Do

Provide individualized 30-, 45-, or 60-minute adaptive swim lessons.

Teach water safety and swimming skills based on each swimmer’s individual abilities and needs.

Build positive, trusting relationships with swimmers.

Adapt your teaching approach based on how each swimmer learns best.

Use strategies to support swimmers with sensory needs, anxiety, motor challenges, communication differences, and other barriers to traditional swim instruction.

Communicate with parents and caregivers about progress following sessions.

Maintain a safe and supportive aquatic environment.

Follow all pool safety and emergency procedures.

Complete required session documentation.

Assist with equipment setup and cleanup.

Work collaboratively with other instructors, therapists, and members of the Swim Angelfish team.

Participate in ongoing training, meetings, workshops, and professional development.

Complete required Swim Angelfish training and Swim Whisperer® certifications.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation varies based on education, experience, qualifications, and work location.
$18 – $50 / hour

Requirements
-
At least 1 year of experience in aquatics, such as swim instruction, swim coaching, competitive swimming, lifeguarding, or similar experience.

At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs

Strong swimming ability and confidence working in the water.

Comfortable providing hands-on support to swimmers when necessary for safety and instruction.

Patient, flexible, creative, and able to adjust teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Reliable and able to work independently while contributing to a team.

Ability to lift, carry, and move pool equipment.
-
CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
