McBride Consulting, LLC is seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and relationship-focused Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Specialist to join our school-based behavioral support team. This position serves as an extension of the BCBA, providing direct support to students, consultation to school staff, and coaching to educational teams across assigned school buildings.

The ABA Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring behavior plans are implemented with fidelity, supporting staff during behavioral crises, and helping create positive, supportive learning environments for students with behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs.

Position Summary

The ABA Specialist must be a certified Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and possess strong behavioral knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive rapport with both students and staff. This individual will be familiar with all students assigned to the BCBA’s caseload and provide consistent support across classrooms and school settings.

The ABA Specialist serves as a behavioral leader within the school, working closely with administrators, teachers, case managers, related service providers, and families to support student success.

Responsibilities

Student Support 

  • Provide direct behavioral support to students across educational settings.

  • Assist in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and individualized behavior supports.

  • Collect behavioral data and assist with progress monitoring.

  • Support students during challenging transitions, behavioral escalations, and crisis situations.

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students while maintaining professional boundaries.

  • Maintain familiarity with all students assigned to the BCBA’s caseload (including the student’s team).

Staff Coaching & Training

  • Model effective behavior management strategies in classrooms.

  • Support teachers, paraprofessionals, and educational teams in implementing behavior plans with fidelity.

  • Provide coaching and feedback regarding proactive behavior supports, de-escalation strategies, and classroom management techniques.

  • Assist in training new staff members on behavioral procedures and interventions.

  • Help teams develop confidence when managing challenging student behaviors.

Building Support

  • Collaborate professionally with administrators, case managers, teachers, counselors, related service providers, and support staff.

  • Serve as a behavioral resource throughout the school day.

  • Maintain a calm, solution-focused approach during challenging situations.

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders.

  • Support district-wide behavioral initiatives as assigned.

Coverage Responsibilities 

  • Provide direct student coverage when behavioral support staff, paraprofessionals, or RBTs are absent.

  • Assist schools in maintaining continuity of behavioral programming and student support during staffing shortages.

  • Be flexible and responsive to the changing needs of students and school teams.

Requirements

Required:

  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

  • Experience working with students with behavioral, developmental, or social-emotional needs.

  • Ability to pass required background checks.

  • Reliable transportation if assigned to multiple school buildings.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field.

  • Experience working in public school settings.

  • Experience implementing behavior intervention plans and supporting students with significant behavioral challenges.

  • Experience training or mentoring staff.
